The Experimental Station of San Pietro Avellana (Isernia - Italy) is heir to the research activities of the former “Sezione operativa periferica di San Pietro Avellana”.
Since 1967 the Experimental Station has been established a network of research forests where it has been set out 35 permanent experimental protocol consisting of some hundred of plots. These research forests embrace different climatic and vegetation zones. These research activities are realized in field, thanks to the cooperation of several different administrative bodies (CFS-State Forest Corp, Regions, Comunità montane, Municipalities) and private forest owners.
Besides, in Contrada Feudozzo - Montedimezzo, the Experiemental Station manages a research forest and a forest nursery owned by CRA.
